Wendy Voon Knits is a Melbourne-based knitwear label blending architectural form and refined craftsmanship to create timeless, contemporary garments.
Wendy Voon's knitwear practice explores the interplay of form and texture. Established in 2005, her label distils years of artistic inquiry into garments that are elegant, enduring and sculptural.
Wendy’s work transcends trend and season, inviting women to develop a personal connection with pieces that complement their own sense of style.
Our pieces are made with care in Melbourne on hand kniting machines.

Wendy Voon Knits began as an exploration of form and fabric and its relation to the body during Wendy’s final year of study. An inquiry into creative possibilities beyond standard knit silhouettes and construction methods, quickly evolved into a label, launched in 2005.
Initially wholesaling to high-end boutiques across Australia, the label has grown organically - from design markets to the opening of her first brick-and-mortar store in 2016. For nearly a decade, her shop offered a tactile, intimate experience with her garments.
Today, while the physical store has closed, Wendy continues to foster connection through an online presence, complemented by select design markets and pop-ups where customers can engage with her work in person.

We don’t follow the traditional fashion model.
Instead, our collection is an ongoing, evolving curation.
Each season, we add new designs, refine existing ones, or revisit past styles with fresh interpretations. Some pieces become enduring staples, while others are gradually retired.
Designed with longevity in mind - both in style and construction - many of our pieces remain as beloved today, as they were when first introduced in the early days of the label.

Each piece is thoughtfully designed and carefully crafted.
The majority of our collection is produced in Melbourne using hand-knit machines.
Every design undergoes several rounds of prototyping and is often refined over multiple seasons. Once Wendy finalises a design and determines the best production method, it is passed on to trusted local makers who have collaborated with her for over a decade.
For finer fabrics and specialised techniques not possible with hand-knit machines, we partner with a local mill.
Each garment is finished with an initial machine wash and a gentle tumble dry to soften the fabric and enhance its drape.

We primarily work with natural fibres - superfine merino wool, cotton, linen, alpaca, angora, silk, and mohair.
Most of our yarns are sourced from Italy, where we consistently find exceptional quality and reliability.
We also use yarns from other designers and makers who are no longer operating. These special finds, often discontinued and no longer in production, are what we call vintage or dead-stock yarns. Pieces made with these materials are truly limited edition.
At times, we use yarns that include man-made fibres, for two key reasons:
- Some of our vintage yarns contain synthetic blends. From a sustainability perspective, we believe it's better to make use of these rather than let the energy already invested in their creation go to waste.
- Occasionally, we choose new yarns that are primarily natural but blended with a small amount of man-made fibre to improve softness, durability, and longevity.

We produce in small, considered runs.
Many pieces are made to order, out of respect for the time, skill, and materials involved.
We choose to make only what’s needed - so sales are rare.
